Graphic design is an ever-evolving field that’s always being affected by new software and trends. Graphic design is about creating appealing visuals for clients through different mediums whether it be multimedia, print, or the web.
The way we design has been influenced by different tools that have come up from time to time in the industry. Creatives have always found ways to improve their workflow and make their creative journey more efficient. Here are some of the best tools for graphic designers that every designer should try out this year to improve their workflow and speed up their designing process.
Tools for Designers to Improve Your Workflow
1. Adobe Creative Cloud
Adobe Creative Cloud offers a suite of apps for designers, photographers, videographers, and developers. Adobe Creative Cloud is also available for teams and schools.
When you choose to work in the cloud, you can access over 20 desktop and mobile apps plus step-by-step guidance from expert instructors. While it is possible to work with Photoshop, Lightroom and Illustrator individually, having them all in one place can be beneficial to your workflow. You can access each app directly online through your browser or download them on your desktop.
Adobe Creative Cloud provides you with the opportunity to collaborate with others by allowing you to share files and make comments. You will also have access to 100GB of cloud storage space so you can keep all your files safe and accessible from anywhere.
Pixlr is a web-based graphic design tool and one of the best free Photoshop alternatives on the market. It has a series of features that you would expect to find in any premium photo editing software, including layer support and various selection tools like a lasso, magic wand, brush, color range, etc.
When it comes to image formats, Pixlr supports all the mainstream ones including PNG, JPG, and BMP. The interface is very clean and like Photoshop. It has two versions: Pixlr Editor and Pixlr X.
Pixlr X is a more modern and easier-to-use version with a less cluttered interface and fewer features than Pixlr Editor. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a full-featured photo editor, you should try Pixlr Editor.
The only issue with both versions is that it can be difficult to navigate around them at first because it has so many features that it can feel overwhelming to use.
If you don’t mind some learning curve and want a free alternative to Adobe Photoshop, then this is the best tool for you.
3. Google Charts
Google Charts is a free service that allows you to create charts of all types. This is an excellent tool for both experienced designers and beginners. And Google Charts provides great options for customization, allowing you to make your charts look how you want.
Google Charts makes it easy to create charts for your website. You can get started with Google Charts by signing up for their free account. You can then choose from a variety of templates or start from scratch with their online editor.
Once you’ve selected your template and made any adjustments required, you’re ready to download your chart as an image file. You can also download a PDF version of your chart to share with others or print on paper.
Once you’ve created your chart, it’s ready to be published on your website or blog.
Canva is, without a doubt, one of my all-time favorite graphic design tools for both web and print media design. With Canva you can create just about anything your heart desires.
The options are endless, from social media graphics and website featured images to posters, banners, and even eBook covers. You can choose from over a million professionally designed layouts or create your designs from scratch with the fully customizable design tool.
It’s free to use, although there are some paid elements like premium stock photos, icons, and illustrations that you can use. There’s also a paid option called Canva Pro which offers unlimited storage and folders as well as access to millions of transparent images.
You don’t need any technical or design skills to get started with Canva. If you’re looking for an amazing graphic design tool, this is the one you’ll want to check out first!
DeviantArt is a website that allows users to upload, view, and share personal artwork. Users can create profiles to display their artwork, participate in contests and forums, contribute to articles and interviews, and communicate with other artists.
DeviantArt allows the use of a wide range of visual media, including traditional art media such as painting and drawing, digital art media such as photography and 3D computer graphics, and photographic manipulations.
DeviantArt also offers a contest system for which users can submit their work to be judged by DeviantArt staff or other judges who are appointed by DeviantArt. The winning works are featured on the Daily Deviations page on the site’s main page.
There’s no shortage of resources available for designers, allowing you to speed up your workflow and become more efficient. There’s a balance to be struck, however; you don’t want to rush into using new tools without being sure that they work for your specific needs. Check out the tools above, decide which one best meets your needs, and add it to your existing workflow—you might be surprised at how well it works.
